Crafty Retreat 2026
Sunday, 4th October, 17:30 - Tuesday, 6th October 16:00
£1,850 + VAT
If Crafty Fest is scale, energy and connection, the Retreat is depth, trust, and transition.
The Retreat is our new learning offering - a more intimate, immersive experience designed for real growth. Across two days and two nights, it brings together a carefully curated cohort of peers navigating the same moment of step-up in responsibility.
This is a space for first-time General Counsels and senior in-house lawyers to pause, step away from day-to-day work, and focus on your development. Time to reflect, build trust with peers stepping into equivalent roles at a pivotal moment in their careers, and work through what comes next with intention.

The Retreat will be held at Sopwell House, a five-star luxury hotel and spa in Hertfordshire, near St Albans - within easy reach of London and Heathrow.
Who is the Retreat for?
Give yourself the gift of time to connect, learn, and grow alongside a small cohort of up to 20 delegates at the same inflection point. You will also be joined by some team members from our insightful and curious sponsors, and the Crafty Counsel team.
The cohort for the Retreat will consist of in-house lawyers who:
- Have recently taken on a senior role such as General Counsel, Regional or Country General Counsel, Business Unit General Counsel, or Head of Legal
- Have people managing responsibilities in their role
- Might have been promoted into that role, or joined from outside the business and want to establish themselves as a legal leader
- Might be reporting (or have a dotted line) to someone other than a member of the Legal team for the first time
What will you learn at the Retreat?
A shift in your career. A moment to pause.

Get a better level of self-awareness by the end of the Retreat. Learn about your strengths, weaknesses, working styles, and behavioural preferences.

You will learn how to apply all your self-awareness and learnings to situations with the Board or senior management teams, and your reporting line upwards.

Grow as a team leader as you become better equipped to manage a team as individuals and a group. Focused on learning a coaching style of management.
